On March 17, 2021, changes were made to the medical assistance in dying law (MAID) federal regulations. The revised law mainly modifies MAID eligibility criteria and safeguards in response to the Superior Court of Québec’s 2019 Truchon decision.
Changes to Nursing Policy Documents
Upon government proclamation, new and revised nursing policy documents will come into effect due to Bill 46, the Health Statutes Amendment Act, 2020 (No. 2). These documents outline the expectations of registrants.

Record Numbers of Registered Nurse Permits Issued in Alberta
On April 4, 2023, CRNA announced a new equitable process to remove many of the barriers that previously existed for internationally educated nurses (IENs). The new process is faster as well as more affordable, predictable, transparent and fair.
