The College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is a regulatory college under the Health Professions Act (HPA). Our vision is excellence in nursing regulation for the health of all Albertans. Our objective is people-first, and we are committed to attracting the best people, engaging, and developing a workforce that embodies our values of integrity, respect, accountability and professionalism. The CRNA is committed to meeting and exceeding its legislative responsibilities by using a Right-touch relational regulatory approach.
At the CRNA, we are dedicated to advancing regulatory excellence. In collaboration with the Governance, Regulation & Standards team and the Strategic Initiatives team, this position will play a key role in defining project priorities, developing structured implementation plans and ensuring alignment with the CRNA’s regulatory objectives.
This is not an IT project. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience managing business initiatives in a health-care setting.
The successful candidate will be assigned two projects:
1. Standards of Practice Rewrite Project
This initiative modernizes the CRNA’s practice standards, guidelines and competencies to ensure clarity, cultural awareness and ease of understanding using a Right-touch relational regulatory approach. The goal is to consolidate documents, streamline guidance and make expectations for safe, competent, and ethical care more accessible. You will coordinate support activities and the implementation process, though you will not be responsible for authoring the standards.
2. Nurse Practitioner (NP) Program
The NP Program supports the evolving role of nurse practitioners in Alberta. Deliverables of the program include transitioning to generalist NPs, regulating neonatal NPs and supporting NP practice in primary, acute and specialized care settings. While the content and direction of these deliverables will be defined by subject matter experts, your role will be to scope the overall program, document key components and develop a strategic roadmap. You will structure the work into manageable projects, define timelines, identify resource needs and ensure accountability to milestones — aligning the work with CRNA’s strategic and regulatory objectives.
This is a six-month contract position with a potential for extension.
