NP Virtual Care Applicant

Your answers indicate that you may qualify to apply as a virtual care applicant.

The virtual care program is a pilot program that involves your employer and inter-jurisdictional coordination. To practise virtually in Alberta, you must:

  • Hold an active permit in good standing with either:
    • College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
    • College and Association of Nurses of Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN)
  • Be employed by an eligible employer for the program in your home jurisdiction:
    • Alberta Health Services (AB)
    • Covenant Health (AB)
    • Indigenous Services Canada (AB/SK)
    • Saskatchewan Health Authority (SK)
    • Government of the Northwest Territories (NWT)
    • Government of Nunavut (NU)

To begin the process, you must connect with your employer. They will submit your name to your home regulator to start the application for Alberta.

Once your regulator receives all items from your employer, they will verify your permit is in good standing and send notification to the CRNA who will then notify you when you can complete the application. Once the CRNA notifies you that you are eligible to begin the virtual care permit application, you will be provided with a College Connect account creation link.
