Overview

As a regulatory body, the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) serves the public interest by regulating the registered nursing practice in Alberta. Fees cover the costs of this regulatory process, which includes:

  • Assessment of applicants to join or renew their status on the register
  • Implementing accountabilities for the nursing practice through standards and continuing competence
  • Addressing conduct concerns related to registrants
  • Performing regulatory functions that align with the CRNA's mandate

All fees below include GST (GST #R106692643).

First-Time Application Fees

One-Time
Account Creation

This is the required fee to create an account with the CRNA. If you already have an account, you do not need to pay again.

Virtul care accounts are exempt from the one-time creation fee.

Permit Fees

The permit fee is only collected once per registrant per practice year. This fee structure is for permits effective between Oct. 1, 2025, and Sept. 30, 2026.

Registration Status

Full Year

Permits that are issued for the full year, which including annual renewals.

Partial Year

Permits that are issued effective May, June, July, August or September will cost a pro-rated fee based on the number of months remaining in the year.

For registrants who wish to keep themselves active in our system, but may be on leave.
