RN competency profile

RN scope of practice is unique and valuable. Research demonstrates that registered nurse care has a positive, measurable and significant difference to the outcome of a client’s care.

Nursing interventions provided within your scope of practice varies with the context of the needs of the client, the situation and the setting.

Entry-level competencies describe what is expected of the entry level registered nurse. Competencies are:

  • client-centred
  • futuristic
  • include new developments in society, health care, nursing knowledge, and nursing practice.

The competencies support registered nurses in practicing in today’s realities and ensure they are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills to adapt to changes in health care and nursing.
