Specialty practice groups
CARNA supports specialty practice groups (SPGs) developed by registered nurses and nurse practitioners who:
- share a common interest in a defined area of nursing or a common interest in a social concern directly or indirectly affecting the practice of nursing
- whose interests are not already represented by a CARNA recognized SPG
SPGs are valuable to the promotion of the profession, to enhancing quality of care and standards of practice, and the development of knowledge and competency through sharing among peers.
CARNA recognizes that the expertise of SPGs provides support for decision-making on relevant issues. These groups also provide networking opportunities to RNs and NPs who work in a variety of practice settings.
