Protected titles are granted to each regulated health profession through the Health Professions Act. For the registered nurse profession, Schedule 24 outlines the protected titles that individuals must be registered with and regulated by CARNA to use:
- Registered nurse (RN),
- Certified graduate nurse (CGN),
- Nurse practitioner (NP),
- Graduate nurse (GN), and
- Graduate nurse practitioner (GNP).
For public protection, CARNA is taking steps to stop individuals from representing themselves with these protected titles. If you have any questions, please contact the College.
