Canadian Nurse Practitioner Exam (CNPE)
About the exam
The CNPE is a computerized examination comprised of 170 - 190 multiple choice questions. The questions are either stand alone or based on a case presentation. The exam is written over a single four hour session.
How to apply to write the exam
- Complete the confirmation of program completion form and forward it to the educational institution where you completed your NP program.
- When we receive the confirmation of program completion form, we will set up the exam application on your account and contact you by email.
- Send two pieces of government-issued identification to firstname.lastname@example.org, one of which includes your photograph.
- Login to MyCARNA and complete the online NP Exam application on MyCARNA. The exam fee is paid as part of your online application. This application will only be available between fourteen and seven weeks prior to the exam writing date.
Withdrawing from the exam
Candidates may withdraw from the exam in advance, up to and including the scheduled date of the exam, before the exam begins. Withdrawing from the exam is not considered an exam sitting.
Failure to appear for the exam without notifying CARNA that you are withdrawing may result in the loss of your complete exam fee.
