Approved nursing education programs
Nurses applying to CARNA need a baccalaureate degree in nursing to practise in Alberta. See the list of CARNA approved programs offered in Alberta.
English language proficiency
All applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in English to a level sufficient to engage in safe, competent, ethical nursing care.

Jurisprudence 2020 course
After May 1, 2019, applicants will need to complete an eLearning course on jurisprudence.
Reporting criminal history
All applicants and regulated members must disclose any criminal history.
Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Misconduct course
All registered nurses and nurse practitioners are required to complete this new requirement.
