Telehealth connects patients and health-care providers who provide health services over the phone, computer or any other form of information and communication technologies (ICT). We understand that the use of telehealth is increasing and that a consistent approach between RN regulators would provide transparency for the public, as well as our members. We are committed to working with employers and members to address telehealth practice as it is an important issue that impacts the profession and the public.
Until consistent procedures are in place, please follow the guidelines below before providing telehealth.

To provide telehealth to an Albertan, you must be practicing registered nursing in Alberta and must be registered with CARNA.
The Health Professions Act (HPA) in Alberta outlines the need to be registered to provide professional services, including performing restricted activities, and to use protected titles.
