This half-day seminar enhances critical communication techniques to help nursing and allied health professionals build empathy and rapport in time-constrained environments. Many health professionals are on the front lines and, in many cases, are the initial contact with patients coping with functional decline, symptom distress and mental health concerns.
Nurses are also routinely called upon to assess patients using standardized tools and assessment frameworks, while being simultaneously expected to exhibit empathy and responsivity to patient needs. Participation in this workshop leads to a comprehensive understanding of empathy-building techniques designed specifically for use in busy practice settings. After learning key theories and concepts, all participants will have the opportunity practice the skills they learned in a small group format. Rapid Response Empathy training includes a light lunch, course manual, classroom training and skills practice.
